The Peacock has been showing up in my work for quite a few years now and seems to be one of the more favorite characters. He’s been through some changes over the years but he definitely get around. Here is a little timeline of the Peacock’s adventures.
Here is one of my earliest Peacock pieces. Notice how undeveloped the feathers are. I really like the expression on this one though. He looks like he is up to mischief. This piece is an original on paper when I was doing a lot of those a few years ago.
This was my first Peacock Mural down at the Two Crows Surfboards Factory in the Waialua Sugar Mill. Notice a lot more color in his feathers and how there is a more detail coming out. This Mural almost got my face punched in by the North Shore's Graffiti Buster who wanted to make sure I didn't tag anywhere on the North Shore. Which takes us to the next image.
This Mural got the Graffiti Buster worked up but he realized I wasn't tagging, but making some cool pieces for the community. This Mural is out at Papiaola Road. I tracked for an hour through the jungle to avoid being seen carrying all my paint and step ladder. Turns out no one cared and I took the beach rout back to my car in 5 min. I was so battered and exhausted after this mural, but I learned a lot. Like bring water and sunscreen.
This is the Largest Peacock I have made out of resin art. After the last mural I started developing out the details in the feathers, giving them the little wave on the inside. I really like the background colors on this one as well.
This guy is huge! That's a Two Story building we painted with the most rickety ladder in all of Mexico. Imagine that. This was so fun to paint on a surf trip with my buddies. The Local kids came out to help and we turned the mural into a party. Too much fun. Check out the video for more.
Pow Wow Hawaii is a outdoor Mural Event in Kakaako on Oahu. Artists from all over the world come to paint and show their work. It is such a fun event. This Mural was really exhausting as we had to paint it 2x The first round was with spray cans which I really don't like the dark colors they have to offer. The second time we did it with house paint to brighten it up. It's hard to tell but the mural starts at 6 feet overhead so you can imagine how many times we had to climb that ladder.
Here is an image of how it was looking with just the spray paint. Way to dark!
This Peacock was painted on the side of North Shore Surf Shop in Haleiwa. I was so stoked on how bright it came out and how the feathers have developed.
The mural was a total his with everyone as they got their picture taken with a ray of feathers. Sadly the surf shop decided to paint a wave over it. Oh well.
Two Heads are better than one. This image was taken at the 2016 Haleiwa Arts Festival. Since the wall was long and not that tall we went with 2 peacocks to cover the space. It worked out great for people to take pictures in front of.
This is the latest Peacock I made on Resin art. I really liked the way this one looks and the background purples really stoke me out.
You can see here in the far corner of my studio a peacock still in the works. This one is on a huge canvas and still needs a few good days of painting to finish it up.
